Biography

Shawne Brown is a photographer based in Nashville. He was born in Kingsport, TN and studied photography at East Tennessee State University (MFA 2008). His photographs primarily address the cultural and physical landscape of his home state of Tennessee, its connections to regional and national history, its rapid changes, and its resistance to such change. His work has been featured by the Oxford American, the Tennessean, Aint-Bad, and FotoFilmic among others, and will be highlighted in an upcoming documentary on the development of the Neuhoff property in Nashville. Brown continues to build on this growing archive of photographs in preparation for exhibition and publication. He lives in Nashville with his wife, two sons, and two cats.
