Solomon Valley
Populated by small towns along Highway 24 in central Kansas, the Solomon Valley
passes between the geographic center of the United States and the geodetic center
of the North American continent. I began making trips to the region in 2003 to make
photographs that would partner and contrast with the work I wanted to do in East
Tennessee. The light, terrain, and palette differ, but the project furthers my interest in
how a specific place, in this case the center of the country, might serve as a resource
and an envelope for a body of work.
